RabaTEENS is a nurturing space for deep and meaningful Islamic spiritual mentorship with compassionate and caring mentors. We design fun, creative, and positive educational experiences to help teens grow confidently and comfortably into their faith.

Class Description

This class aims to inspire positive cultural change by providing teens with a discussion circle centered on topics from Dr. Tamara Gray’s Joy Jots, fostering both personal and spiritual growth. Through weekly reflections on various topics, students will explore areas for self-improvement and spiritual development.

Over five weeks, this class will serve as a space for reflection and growth. Students will learn to dedicate an hour each week to reflect on different topics and express their thoughts and emotions with the class. They will learn skills that are crucial for self-improvement, spiritual growth, and effective communication. Topics such as friendship, confidence, gratitude, time management, goal setting, and more will be explored in group discussions that relate to real-life challenges and experiences.

Class Outline

Week 1: A Friend Like ʿUmar

Let’s dive into the complicated world of friendships. How can we find friends and build lasting relationships? What should we look for when looking for friends? What do we need to work on to be a better friend?

Week 2: Debt to Be Repaid

Are we in debt? This week we will discuss the areas of life where we may have debts that are weighing us down. We will talk about how to become debt free towards our friends and family, and especially with Allah (swt).

Week 3: Open Line to the Heart

Alhamdulillah! Blessings everywhere! This week we will talk about the blessings that are surrounding us, how to recognize these blessings, and work towards a positive mindset and a healthy mind.

Week 4: Confidence

Confidence is a skill that we each need to develop. We will start with building confidence and unwavering trust in Allah (swt), and then move on to how to transfer that to understanding the essence of confidence and discussing how to build it in all aspects of our lives.

Week 5: The Yearly Spreadsheet

As we approach the end of the year, let’s take a moment to reflect on our time, goals, and plans. How are we using our time, how can we maximize it to benefit from every moment, and how can we use the time we have to achieve our goals in life.
