Lanterns of Light: Women Who Inspire the Ummah
Spring 2026
RabaTEENS is a nurturing space for deep and meaningful Islamic spiritual mentorship with compassionate and caring mentors. We design fun, creative, and positive educational experiences to help teens grow confidently and comfortably into their faith.
Did you know that it was a woman who inspired Umar ibn al-Khattab to embrace Islam? Did you know that it was a woman who facilitated the travel routes to Makkah for the sacred pilgrimage (Hajj)?
Together, we will explore stories of great women of the past who lit the way for generations of men and women to come. These women held themselves to the highest standards of piety, modesty, beautiful character, and knowledge. They served the deen, their families, and their communities. They accomplished remarkable feats without losing sight of what truly matters, their spiritual connection to Allah ﷻ and their private life of worship. They were game changers in their time, and their impact continues to this day.
It is now our turn to hold on to their lanterns, to live in their light, and to pass it on.

Week 1: Asmaa bint Omais
An amazing sahabiyya, or companion of the Prophet ﷺ, she was an immigrant to a foreign land, yet that did not stop her from leaving her mark. A great woman and the wife of a great man, Asmaa’s story is truly an inspiration we can all learn from.
Week 2: Fatima bint al-Khattab
Sometimes, a good sister can be the greatest asset and source of support. Fatima bint al-Khattab was the sister of the legendary Umar ibn al-Khattab, and she lit the way for him that led to his greatness.
Week 3: Fatima bint Muhammad ﷺ
The youngest, yet one of the most courageous daughters of the Prophet ﷺ, Fatima truly was, as the saying goes, "her father’s daughter."
Week 4: Zubaidah bint Jaʿfar
A woman of wealth, surrounded by luxury and fine things, yet none of it distracted her from her true calling of spreading knowledge of the Holy Quran and serving Muslims from all over the world.
Week 5: Fatima al-Fihri
A woman devoted to the worship of Allah ﷻ, Fatima was passionate about education and seeking knowledge. Her name is still known across Morocco to this day.
