Class Outline

Week 1:  Salah in the Early Days of Islam

We will begin by journeying back to the early days of Islam to explore the origins and significance of Salah. Delving into the historical context, students will uncover the pivotal role that Salah played in the lives of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and his companions. Through studying the practices and rituals of Salah during this foundational period, we will gain valuable insights into its evolution and importance as a cornerstone of Islamic worship. We will immerse ourselves in the rich history of Salah and discover the timeless wisdom that continues to guide Muslim communities worldwide.

Week 2:  Beauty of Salah

We will delve into the profound beauty of Salah and explore the reasons behind its significance in Islam. Beyond the obligatory nature of Salah, we will uncover its deeper spiritual and psychological benefits, ranging from fostering mindfulness and gratitude to strengthening our connection with Allah ﷻ. Through reflective discussions and personal insights, students will come to appreciate Salah not just as a religious obligation but as a transformative practice that enriches our lives and brings us closer to our Creator.

Week 3:  Purification: Physical & Spiritual

We will delve into the dual concept of purification in Islam, encompassing both physical and spiritual aspects. Students will explore the importance of ritual purification (Tahara) before engaging in Salah, understanding its significance in preparing the body and mind for worship. Students will also unravel the deeper spiritual symbolism behind purification rituals, recognizing them as a means to cleanse not only the body but also the soul, fostering a state of inner purity and spiritual readiness for connection with Allah ﷻ.

Week 4:  Exploring the Recitation

We will explore the recitations in Salah, delving into the profound significance of the verses and phrases uttered during prayer. Students will immerse themselves in the beauty of Quranic recitation, uncovering the meanings that infuse each prayer with spiritual depth and resonance. Through this session, we will gain a deeper understanding of the linguistic and spiritual dimensions of Salah recitations, fostering a richer connection with the divine messages conveyed through each word.

Week 5:  Squad Goals! Beyond the 5

We’ll dive into Jama’ah and Nawafil prayers and discover what makes praying together so special and why there’s more to Salah than just the five daily prayers! We’ll explore the rewards of Jama’ah, how praying alongside others elevates us, and the different Sunnah prayers we can add to our routine. Through fun discussions and relatable scenarios, we’ll learn how these extra opportunities for Salah can become a natural part of our everyday lives. We’ll wrap up by sharing ideas and setting simple goals that we can try to put into practice everyday!
