RabaTEENS is a nurturing space for deep and meaningful Islamic spiritual mentorship with compassionate and caring mentors. We design fun, creative, and positive educational experiences to help teens grow confidently and comfortably into their faith.

Class Description

Ever feel overwhelmed, frustrated, or not quite sure how to handle your emotions?

This class is all about learning how to stay calm, in control, and confident while staying grounded in your faith. It is a space where you can slow down, reflect, and better understand what is going on inside you, without judgment. We will explore how to manage real-life situations, whether it is dealing with friendships, family dynamics, school stress, or moments when emotions feel too big. Instead of simply reacting, you will learn how to pause, think, and respond in a way that reflects both strength and character.

In this course, we combine modern emotional intelligence tools with the beauty of Islamic teachings. Drawing from the CASEL framework, along with With the Heart in Mind by Ustadh Mikaeel Smith and The Compass Home by Dr. Marwa Assar, each session brings these concepts to life in a practical and relatable way. Students will explore how the Prophet ﷺ handled emotions with wisdom, patience, and strength, and learn simple, effective tools such as breathwork, dhikr, fikr, and muhasaba that can be used in daily life.

Each session closes with real, practical tips that can be applied immediately with friends, at home, and in the broader community.

Class Outline

Week 1: Know Your Nafs

This session focuses on building self-awareness through an Islamic lens. Students will explore the concept of the nafs and learn how to recognize their thoughts, emotions, and triggers. Through reflection and guided activities, they will begin to understand themselves more deeply and develop the awareness needed to respond with intention rather than reaction.

Week 2: Take a Chill Pill

This session introduces the art of emotional regulation and self-management. Students will learn simple, practical tools to help them stay calm and grounded when emotions feel overwhelming, including breathwork, dhikr, and pausing techniques. The focus is on learning how to manage emotions in a healthy and faith-centered way.

Week 3: It’s Giving Sunnah

In this session, students will explore how the Prophet ﷺ modelled emotional intelligence with patience, wisdom, and compassion. Through relatable examples, they will learn how to apply Prophetic guidance in their own emotional responses and interactions with others.

Week 4: Community Matters

This session focuses on building social awareness through empathy and understanding. Students will reflect on how their actions impact others and learn how to navigate friendships and relationships with care, respect, and emotional awareness.

Week 5: Think Before You Act

In this final session, students will explore responsible decision-making as an act of worship. They will learn how to pause, reflect, and make choices that align with their values and faith, especially in challenging or emotional situations. The session will bring together everything learned in the course to help students respond thoughtfully and with confidence.
