Led by Anse Leanna Abdelmaged, each session incorporates inspiring discussions, creative prompts, and engaging activities to make journaling fun, personal, and impactful. No prior journaling experience is required—just bring your heart, your mind, and your willingness to grow!

Class Outline

Week 1: Setting Intentions for Ramadan with Gratitude and Mindfulness

In the first week, students will focus on setting intentions for Ramadan while cultivating gratitude and mindfulness. They will explore the Islamic significance of intentions and learn how to set meaningful spiritual and personal goals for the month. Through reflection exercises, they will learn to recognize the blessings in their lives, fostering a sense of gratitude. Mindfulness practices will also be introduced, helping them understand the importance of being present in their worship and daily activities.

Week 2: Self-Reflection and Spiritual Growth

This week, the class will focus on self-reflection and spiritual growth. Through guided prompts, students will examine their personal strengths and identify areas for improvement. They will explore how fasting, prayer, and Quran recitation contribute to spiritual development. Journaling will provide a space to express their struggles, successes, and insights gained so far in Ramadan, helping them recognize their progress.

Week 3: Connecting with Allah and Others

In this session, the focus will shift to connecting with Allah ﷻ  and others. Students will reflect on strengthening their relationship with Allah through acts of worship, including du’a and increased devotion. They will also examine their relationships with family, friends, and the broader community, considering the role of kindness, service, and forgiveness in Ramadan. Journaling exercises will encourage them to explore ways to nurture these connections.

Week 4: Celebrating Progress and Moving Forward

The final week will be a time for celebrating progress and planning for the future. Students will review their journal entries, highlighting personal growth and key takeaways from Ramadan. They will discuss the benefits of continuing journaling beyond the month, using it as an ongoing tool for self-reflection and spiritual development. By the end of the program, they will have a meaningful record of their Ramadan journey, along with strategies to maintain their spiritual momentum throughout the year.
