Surat Al-Furqan: Living by the Light of Truth
Fall 2025
RabaTEENS is a nurturing space for deep and meaningful Islamic spiritual mentorship with compassionate and caring mentors. We design fun, creative, and positive educational experiences to help teens grow confidently and comfortably into their faith.
This five-week course takes teens on a reflective journey through Surat Al-Furqan, exploring how the Quran serves as the ultimate criterion between truth and falsehood. Students will engage with relatable themes like identity, peer pressure, social justice, and self-worth, all while deepening their connection with the Quran. This class aims to foster critical thinking, spiritual growth, and a sense of purpose rooted in Divine guidance.
The goal of this course is not just to explain tafsir but to help students see how the Quran speaks to them, about them, and for them—even as teenagers in the modern world.
Week 1: The Quran: A Light in a Confused World (Ayat 1–20)
We will uncover what Al-Furqan means and why it matters, seeing how the Quran helps us tell right from wrong in a world of mixed messages, opinions, and “my truth.” We will learn from prophets who stood firm despite mockery and rejection, and we will explore how to stay true to our values when others think differently.
Week 2: Signs in the Sky and the Self (Ayat 21–31)
We will discover Allah’s ﷻ signs in nature and within ourselves, and discuss the dangers of blindly following desires or peer pressure. We will think about who influences us and how to choose friends who guide us toward goodness.
Week 3: False Gods & Modern Distractions (Ayat 32–44)
We will tackle some doubts about the Quran, explore traits of those who reject truth, and identify today’s “idols” like fame, wealth, and social media. We will reflect on what we truly value and what competes for space in our hearts.
Week 4: Justice, Responsibility, and True Success (Ayat 45–60)
We will compare Allah’s ﷻ control over the universe with human arrogance, discuss the false sense of control in society and our duty to live by Divine standards, and rethink what success really looks like according to Allah ﷻ.
Week 5: ‘Ibadur-Rahman: Becoming a Servant of the Most Merciful (Ayat 61–77)
We will explore the traits of Allah’s ﷻ beloved servants — inner peace, humility, strength, and grace under pressure. We will discuss responding to hate with kindness and finding hope in Allah’s ﷻ forgiveness as we decide who we want to become.
